Discipling Her Heart began as a private thought in my mind for several months while meeting with women and hoping to encourage them in their daily walk with Jesus. The more I spoke with women in all different seasons of life, the more I wanted to continue to encourage them all and give them resources to help them along the way. I just couldn't figure out where to pull the time from in order to meet each one of their individual needs. Time and time again a reoccurring thought crossed my mind: These women desire to be discipled!
No matter where they were in their journey or what season of life they were in, they all wanted to be held accountable. They wanted to be more faithful, more humble, more loving, more patient, more gracious, more prayerful; ALTOGETHER MORE LIKE JESUS!
As much as I would like to help disciple each one individually, I knew that it would be impossible with the time crunch of daily life. My heart felt burdened by the thought that I might miss the opportunity to help someone. As I studied more on the subject, I have discovered one simple fact that relieved the heaviness in my heart. It is not the work of only a handful of people to disciple others. It is the work of the entire body within our communities to love, teach, admonish and rebuke one another, creating disciples and growing as a disciple.
I firmly believe that God has given us community for a specific purpose, so that we may grow in His likeness by loving, caring for and discipling one another with the saving truths of the Bible. Jesus and His disciples lived together, ate together and experienced life together. He modeled how to love God and love people. On the cross Jesus died, so that we would be reconciled to Him. (2 Corinthians 5:18) But not only did He reconcile us to himself but to a community of believers.
Ephesians 2:19-21 So then you are no longer strangers or aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus himself being the cornerstone, in whom the whole structure, being joined together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord.My sincere prayer in starting this blog is to encourage women to grow closer to Jesus in every area of their lives. I pray that this blog would help equip woman to pray for and serve their husbands, children, friends and others with a joyful heart. I would like to offer as many resources, testimonies and articles as possible to help guide and disciple women's hearts so that in turn they would go into their community and create more disciples of Jesus.
